Early eighteenth century. England is at war with the French. However, duck races and pineapple tasting are activities that thrive. Fragile Queen Anne (Olivia Colman) occupies the throne, and her girlfriend, Lady Sarah (Rachel Weisz), governs the country for her while she cares for Anna’s health and changeover. When Abigail (Emma Stone) arrives at the palace as a maid, her charm conquers Sarah, who takes her under her wing. Thus, Abigail sees a chance to return to her aristocratic roots. While political issues become quite consuming for Sarah, Abigail discovers the opportunity to become the queen’s companion. Their flourishing friendship gives them the chance to fulfill their ambitions and will not let any woman, man, politician, or rabbit stand in their way.
