Established in the 1950s postwar War London, a garment manufacturer is delegated to create clothes for members of the high society and the royal family. Renowned tailor Reynolds Woodcock (Daniel Day-Lewis) and her sister Cyril (Lesley Manville) are at the center of British fashion, dressing their royalties, cinema stars, with the distinctive style of Woodcock’s House. Women come and go through Woodcock’s life, assuring the inspirational boss and companion, until he meets a young, determined woman, Alma (Vicky Krieps), who soon becomes a central element of her life as a mute and loved one. Once controlled and planned, he now finds his meticulous cutlery life destroyed by love.
