The film is a replication of the classic animation that refreshes the classic characters of an old story for a contemporary audience, remaining faithful to original music, while being updated with some new tracks. Beauty and the Beast captures the fantastic journey of Belle, a beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner of a beast in her castle. In spite of her fears, she becomes friends with the wizened castle staff and learns to look beyond the hideous outer beast and to know the loving heart and the human soul of the true prince from within. Though the young man initially had a huge longing for her family, refusing to repeat the marriage requests of the Beast, she finally realizes she loves the Beast, who is actually a handsome prince who was cursed.
In a modern society under the sign of appearances and outer image, the film represents a modern satire on contemporary values.
